Rheinmetall stellt um – Waffenproduktion jetzt auch in unserer Nachbarschaft (Eng below)

Rheinmetall, der größte Rüstungsproduzent Deutschlands, will seinen Produktionsstandort Pierburg in Berlin am Humboldthain auf die Produktion von militärischen Komponenten umstellen. In unserer direkten Nachbarschaft werden dann Munition und Waffenteile hergestellt, die weltweit exportiert werden. Die Waffen von Rheinmetall morden mit in Kriegen auf der ganzen Welt! In den letzten Jahren haben Rheinmetall und seine Tochterunternehmen Panzer, Bomben und Munition in zahlreiche Länder exportiert. Darunter sind auch solche, die Menschenrechtsverletzungen begangen haben oder in Kriege verwickelt sind, wie die Ukraine, Saudi-Arabien, Russland und die Türkei. Auch das israelische Militär setzt Panzerkanonen und Munition von Rheinmetall im Gaza-Genozid ein, bei dem seit dem 7. Oktober 2023 mehr als 62.000 Palästinenser:innen getötet und 1,9 Millionen vertrieben wurden.

Für die Aktionär:innen von Rheinmetall ist das kein Problem. Denn: Aus Tod, Zerstörung und Krieg schlagen Rüstungskonzerne Profit. Rheinmetall bereichert sich an Kriegen: Der Konzernumsatz von Rheinmetall lag im letzten Jahr bei 9,75 Milliarden Euro, 80% davon machte das militärische Geschäft aus. Auch der Aktienkurs von Rheinmetall ist in den letzten Jahren explodiert. Seit Beginn des Ukraine-Kriegs hat sich der Kurs verzehnfacht. Rheinmetall wird seine Profite weiter steigern. Nicht zuletzt durch den Plan der EU, in den nächsten 5 Jahren 800 Milliarden in Rüstung zu investieren und den Beschluss der Bundesregierung, die Schuldenbremse für Rüstungsausgaben aufzuheben. 500 Milliarden in Gesundheit, Bildung und Soziales statt Waffen! In Deutschland leben immer mehr Menschen und vor allem Kinder in Armut. Das ist kein Zufall, sondern hat System! Millionen sind auf die Hilfe von Tafeln angewiesen, und die Zustände in den Krankenhäusern und Kitas sind katastrophal.

Doch statt in die Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen der Menschen zu investieren, setzen CDU, SPD und Grüne auf Aufrüstung. Diese massive Aufrüstung wird durch Kürzungen bei sozialer Infrastruktur, bei Bildung und Gesundheit finanziert. Wir wollen nicht für die Kriege der Reichen zahlen! Das Vorhaben von Rheinmetall zeigt deutlich: eine Umstellung der Produktion ist grundsätzlich möglich! Wir verlangen den Erhalt der Arbeitsplätze im Wedding und Umstellung der Produktion auf eine soziale und ökologisch sinnvolle Weise, zum Beispiel durch Produktion für den Ausbau des ÖPNV! Deshalb: Komm mit uns am 10. Mai um 15 Uhr zum Gesundbrunnen, um die Umstellung auf Waffenproduktion zu verhindern und gegen Aufrüstung zu demonstrieren!

Rheinmetall is converting - weapons will now be manufactured in our neighborhood!

Rheinmetall, Germany's largest arms manufacturer, wants to switch to the production of military components at its Pierburg production site in Berlin's Humboldthain district. Ammunition and weapon parts that are exported worldwide will then be produced in our immediate neighborhood. Rheinmetall weapons are being used in wars all over the world! In recent years, Rheinmetall and its subsidiaries have exported tanks, bombs and ammunition to numerous countries. These include countries that have committed human rights violations or are involved in wars, such as Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Turkey. The Israeli military also uses tank guns and ammunition from Rheinmetall in the Gaza genocide, in which more than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed and 1.9 million Palestinians displaced since October 7, 2023. 

This is not a problem for Rheinmetall shareholders. Because: Armaments companies profit from death, destruction and war. Rheinmetall gets rich from wars: Last year, Rheinmetall's consolidated sales amounted to 9.75 billion euros, 80 percent of which was accounted for by the military business. Rheinmetall's share price has also exploded in recent years. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the share price has increased tenfold. Rheinmetall will continue to increase its profits. Not least due to the EU's plan to invest 800 billion in armaments over the next five years and the German government's decision to lift the debt brake on armaments spending. 500 billion in health, education and social welfare instead of weapons! More and more people, especially children, are living in poverty in Germany. This is not a coincidence, but a system! Millions are dependent on help from food banks, and the conditions in hospitals and daycare centers are catastrophic.

But instead of investing in improving people's living conditions, the SPD, CDU and Greens are focusing on armament. The massive armament is financed by cuts in social infrastructure, education and health. We do not want to pay for the wars of the rich! Rheinmetall's plans clearly show that it is generally possible to convert production. We demand the preservation of workers' jobs in Wedding and the conversion of production in a socially and ecologically sensible way, for example through production for the expansion of public transport! Therefore: Join us at Gesundbrunnen on May 10th at 3pm to prevent the conversion of the Pierburg production facility to weapons manufacturing and to demonstrate against rearmament!
